Robert Hardy CBE- known to his friends as Tim - was famous for a myriad of appearances in films, TV and on stage. He was also well known for the work he did with the archery artefacts of the Tudor warship Mary Rose. His first book "Longbow" was, at the time, the definitive book on the subject. He was a Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Bowyers and a member of the Woodmen of Arden. What fewer people know is that he was also a member of the British Long-Bow Society and of the Society of Archer-Antiquaries - which he joined in 1998- even managing to occasionally find time from his busy schedule to visit their meetings.
Born in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire in Oct 1925, he died in London in August 2017. There was a small private family funeral, and a Memorial service is planned later.

Robert Hardy dies
Re: Robert Hardy dies
He is a great loss. A man who had a clear view of archery and an enquiring mind. Being a great actor and excellent author is a bonus for us all.
