Post Accles & Pollock -- Archers' Roundicator
I came across a round cardboard disc that one can use to rotate an inner disc around the outside circumference to dial up a particular round and determine the number of arrows that need to be shot at a given distance[s]. It also identifies the score that would be needed depending on whether the person qualified as a master bowman, first class, second class, third class or gentlemen shooter [these shooting classifications are also broken down in a similar manner for women]. These are the classes apparently used at that time by the Grand National Archery Society [GNAS].

This particular disc on the reverse side advertises 'Apollo tubular Steel Bows & Arrows'. The date on the device is 1952 and there are 15 popular rounds mentioned.

Who else manufactured such a device and were they widely used by archers? I am assuming that at one time it was a fairly common piece of emphera. :?:

Guard it with your life, Dave. Although these were (I think) quite popular in their time you would be hard pressed to find one still surviving. I will mention this to Hugh and with luck he will get back to you.

Post ACCLES & POLLOCK -- ARCHERS' ROUNDICATOR
Good advice! These kinds of things tend to be readily available in the beginning and then disappear over time. And, being made of cardboard, they don't stand up well for the long haul.

I couldn't help but get out my CD to the Society of Archer-Antiquaries Journals and re-read Edward Hart's excellent article "The Accles & Pollock Steel Bows & Arrows", Volume 43 [2000], pp. 37. Accles & Pollock was a fascinating firm. Their bows were certainly popular. The firm had an huge impact on archery.

This brings another question to mind. Is the Society planning to produce a CD for the more current volumes of the Journal from volume 46 to present [volume 52] and an updated index? While I would be hard pressed to give up my hard copies of the Journal, the CD's do facilitate research!

These 'Roundicators' were quite popular in their day and have a use even today for those new-comers who shoot the English Rounds. Accles and Pollock were the principal makers of steel bows in UK, but Jaques, and 'Coronet' also produced them. The latter for just a short while I believe.
