Post Madle longbow
I have just found an old yew bow stamped Madle Frith st London. Can anyone give me any information about this bowyer especially when he was in business. Also would anyone have any details of where the Log Hut archers from Brighton had their shooting ground.

Just checked "A Catalogue of Archery Clubs & Societies in the United Kingdom 1537 - 1939" and note that the club is listed but without any real information. The source of this information was "Archery" by H. J. B. Hancock, London, 1866. Obviously, the society must of existed around this time.

The Log Hut Archers of Sussex are also listed on page 47 of "The Archer's Register" under "England & Wales List of Existing Societies" for the year 1866-67, but, again, no further information is provided.

Good luck and, if you don't mind, let us know if you find out anything -- Hugh Soar and I will include pertinent information in "A Catalogue of Archery Clubs & Societies in the UK". Thanks!
