Post Rawhide question.
When it comes to Traditional Recreational Long-Bows made in the late eighteenth century and into the nineteenth century by bowmakers such as Waring (elder) of London, Wrigley of Manchester, Ainsworth of Preston, Hughes of Derby and others. Is it known if they ever used a rawhide backing on their bows?
Thank you . Oddbjørn.

I have never heard of such a thing. I would imagine that American bowyers would be more likely to use this material in later years after they stopped copying the English bows so closely and began to have their own ideas.
