Bede - your post is most interesting and mirrors what I feel. May I have your permission to read it out at the August Meeting ? I too have been feeling that there is much of academic interest here and have made enquiries of someone who is experienced in on-line forums (fora !) to see if it might be ...

Bede - we have to thank you most sincerely for such an extensive eulogy. As far as I know, news of Dr Graysons's demise has not yet reached officers of the SAA. Sadly the Arrowhead has just been posted so the news will have to wait until the next one. I will make sure that key people in the SAA are ...

Jan - It may be that it outstayed its time without anyone posting a reply. I have set quite a long timing (around a year) but if no-one posts to a topic it does go eventually. - Sorry

John, the postage to USA for the index is £1.64. With the £7.50 that would be £9.14. The Hon Sec has agreed that this be rounded to £9

We look forward to receiving this via Paypal. to

Mike - I take your point entirely, It is generally accepted amongs those who deal with questionnaires, invitations, enquiries, requests et al, that a 10% response is GOOD. What IS of concern is that presumably all those who registered DO have internet access and presumably also thought there was som...

Pierre - you make some very good points. Sadly I think it is getting people to actually go to and look at the forum in the first place. I have heard all sorts of excuses. As Administrator I make a point of visiting every day to see if there is anything new. However, I do not always comment, particul...

It has always saddened me that - having joined the forum - so many people have never had a word to say. There is no way of knowing if they visit and read, of course, but I have my doubts. I have tried and tried to encourage the non contributers to become more active - singing the praises of the inte...

Slight correction Mike, The Society is an Antiquarian Society - Although its specific field is Archery, it is not an archery society. Pedantic I know, but the main thrust of activities has always been research and the exchange of knowledge. No reason why the research should not include trying out bo...

There have been some comments made to the Hon Sec by post and these will be noted when it comes to discussion on the matter - as will the posts and poll here. I think the reason there have been so few responses is that most of those using the Forum regularly are overseas, and are extremely unlikely ...

Richard - you make a very good point, and this has formed part of the deliberations of the committee. The difficulty is that we are guests of the Royal Tox, and must fit in with their programme and other arrangements. Whether negotiations might find a more suitable date we shall have to see. Not my ...

Just to make things clear. The is an index OF THE ARTICLES (i.e. their titles and authors) it is not a complete index of words contained in them. It is therefore not a large index.

Mike, The Society gives the CDs free to any member who makes a donation of £15 or over. This is to get over the copyright which requires that they are not sold. Members are required to keep them safe and not to pass on to others, either electronically or otherwise. They are especially asked not t...

CDs of past Journals

Those who have recently acquired the two CDs which contain everything in the Journals No 1 to 45 will like to know that it is planned to provide a further CD which is an index of the articles, to help find them on the other CDs. The work has been done, and it just remains to decide the cost. It woul...
